A wonderful day in Toronto
Saturday, blue sky, sunshine....Romain, Aurore and me decided to go to Toronto and visit the metropolis on Lake Ontario!
First we startet walking around downtown, without any destination. Just enjoying the morning atmosphere and looking for whatever we could find.
So we saw a lot of random street-life-scenes everywhere, without knowing where we are or what we were actually looking at. But we know that it is the CN-Tower in the background.
And there between all the skyscrapers there were also a lot of old, cute buildings still standing.
The face of the modern cities, commercials and colours and action everywhere...hard to look at more than 2 minutes.
So we needed a break....
...and found a nice green spot to take a breath and regain energy for more walking.
The we came to Queens Park and ran randomly in a marijuana-festival, where everybody was smoking pot, watched by cops while listening to live reggae music (that's what we did for a while)
And it was all about enjoying themselves, a lot of souvenirs, legalizing of marijuana and and and.
After leaving the Queens Park we came across the Toronto University, a beautiful and green area, where we had another break to plan the rest of the day a little bit more than till that time ;)
Is that a leftover from Halloween?
We visited the Kensington Market, a mix of alternative people and shops, good to get away from the usual city life.
We also had lunch at the market, chicken salad and soup...really delicious!
Hello beautiful ;)
That giy was protesting against drinking milk....he doesn't know that I love milk and totally going to drink as much milk as I can when I am back home! But he had a sweet costume.
More stuff to use and laugh about :)
Really neat that market all over the houses.
Then we went further south again, direction Lake Ontario and walked into the Steam Whistle Brewery. They had a lot of Trains and Wagons in front to look at, and even one old steam train, still going back and forth (of course just for tourists)
A message that need to be said...
Taking the lake air in and creating a masterpiece of art (which I will post soon...!)
Arrived at the Lake, we had a beer-break at an Irish Pub right at the Waterfront before we headed towards the CN-Tower, to see Toronto from above (I tried an organic Lager....ououou, reaaalllyyy bitter)
And, perfect for me, right next to the CN-Tower is the stadium of the baseball team, the Toronto Blue Jays.
There is the huge, main attraction of Toronto.
Actually, it doesn't seem so big anymore ;)
A different perspective on it.
On the outlook level, looking at the Waterfront (West)
And the financial district and the main part of downtown (north)
How lucky we were: At the same time we were on the tower, the Blue Jays played a game against Detroit. First we thought about going to the arena, but then we just watched part of the game from the tower, haha
You can also go outside on a platform and lean over the ground, about 400 meters above the ground.
And a glass floor to stand on, nothing underneath you than a thin plate of glass. A good thrill...but all that wasn't enough for Bene
So I decided to risk a little more and get some more adrenalin...
...and got a real feeling of nothing around me than air, high above the ground. That was amazing!
Back on the ground we decided to grab some dinner and listen to live music, which shouldn't be to hard to find in Toronto, the city of Jazz & Blues.
So we went to THE REX, a bar that one of our friends on the farm told us about.
The pianist was playing and singing different songs, which she all interpreted in her own way, pretty good. Last song was Journey - Don't stop believing, and I just LOVE that song. A perfect ending of the day :)
And we had a good supper in the bar as well as some beers at the end of the day.
It was already night in the city, when we went back to take the train home to our farm.
It was a really awesome day, in a nice city with nice people and so much great things to see and discover! PERFECT SATURDAY! Thanks Toronto, we laughed a lot :)
